Ather, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, recently unveiled its latest model, the 450S. While it shares similarities with the 450X, it is important to note that the 'S' in its name does not stand for sport. Contrary to expectations, the 450S does not offer enhanced performance; in fact, it comes with a smaller battery.
Limited information is currently available about the 450S, but one notable difference is its slightly reduced battery capacity. The 450S features a 3kWh battery pack, whereas the 450X is equipped with a larger 3.7kWh battery pack. Naturally, this has an impact on the range of the 450S. According to Ather, it claims an Indian Driving Cycle (IDC) range of 115km on a single charge. In comparison, the 450X boasts an IDC range of 146km.
Considering our range test results, where the 450X achieved a commendable 142km on a single charge, it is reasonable to expect that the 450S will also deliver a respectable range. The starting price for the new 450S is set at Rs 1,29,999, while the 450X without the ProPack (which excludes additional features) is priced at Rs 1,44,921 (both ex-showroom Bangalore). If you opt for the ProPack, the 450X will cost you Rs 1,65,435 (ex-showroom Bangalore).
As the 450S aims to be the most accessible Ather e-scooter in the market, it is unlikely to offer many features found in the ProPack. At its current price point, the 450S competes with the Ola S1, TVS iQube S, and Vida V1 Pro, which include two mid-spec scooters and one flagship model. We have reached out to the brand for further details and will update this story once we receive a response.
