Tata Motors has been conducting rigorous tests on the upcoming Nexon facelift before its anticipated launch later this year. Recently leaked spy shots of the interior have unveiled several interesting elements, with a particular focus on the paddle shifters.
Enhanced Infotainment System with 10.25-Inch Touchscreen
One of the significant updates in the Nexon facelift is the inclusion of a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This larger display offers improved functionality and a more immersive user experience.
Possible Introduction of Dual-Clutch Automatic Gearbox
There are speculations that the Nexon facelift might come equipped with a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This transmission option, currently available only in the Altroz DCT variant, could enhance the driving experience and provide smoother gear changes.
Significant Exterior Changes
Apart from the interior upgrades, the Nexon facelift will also receive a major update to its exterior design. The specific details regarding these changes have not yet been revealed, but it is expected to bring a fresh and modern look to the popular SUV.
Revamped Interior with Paddle Shifters and Improved Instrument Cluster
The upcoming Nexon facelift could feature paddle shifters, a first for any Tata car or SUV. These paddle shifters will enable manual gear shifting for a more engaging driving experience. Additionally, the instrument cluster has been revamped to showcase a high-resolution digital driver’s display, resembling the Tata Curvv concept that was previously showcased. The spy shots also indicate the possibility of a new flat-bottom steering wheel with haptic touch controls, similar to those found in premium brands like Mercedes-Benz. Moreover, sources suggest that the Curvv-inspired steering wheel will have an illuminated logo, similar to the concept version.
Park Mode and Touch-Operable Climate Control
The Nexon facelift might introduce a Park mode (P) in its gear lever, which is currently absent in the existing model. This addition hints at the potential availability of a dual-clutch automatic transmission in the facelifted version. Furthermore, the updated model is expected to replace the physical HVAC controls with touch-operable climate control, providing a more modern and convenient user interface.
Wireless Charging Pad and New 10.25-Inch Touchscreen Infotainment Unit
Keeping up with modern trends, the Nexon facelift is likely to incorporate a wireless charging pad. This feature, already introduced in the Nexon EV Max variant, enables convenient charging of compatible devices without the need for cables. Additionally, the facelifted Nexon will come equipped with Tata’s new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. This advanced system, showcased at the Auto Expo, offers improved responsiveness and a seamless user interface. The same infotainment unit has already been incorporated into the Tata Nexon EV Max, as well as the Harrier and Safari Red Dark Editions.
Expected Launch and Pricing
The Tata Nexon facelift is anticipated to be launched around August 2023. With the extensive updates and new features, the pricing of the facelifted model is expected to increase compared to the current range. Presently, the Tata Nexon is priced between Rs 7.80 lakh and Rs 14.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It is speculated that the new Nexon could be priced approximately Rs 50,000 higher than the existing models.
