MG Motor India has recently introduced the Blackstorm edition of its premium SUV, the Gloster, at a price of Rs 40.3 lakh. This edition retains the same mechanical features as the standard model but showcases a striking black theme throughout its exterior and interior.
Distinctive Red Accents on Interior and Exterior
The Blackstorm edition of the MG Gloster boasts red accents on both the interior and exterior, adding a touch of sportiness to its overall appearance. This special edition is available in two seating options: 6-seater and 7-seater. Additionally, MG has announced the introduction of an 8-seat variant for the Gloster.
Exterior Features of the MG Gloster Blackstorm Edition
The dimensions of the Gloster remain unchanged, with a length of 4,985mm, a width of 1,926mm, and a height of 1,867mm. However, the Blackstorm edition presents a refreshed exterior design. MG has opted for the popular all-black look, which has been well-received by other manufacturers such as Tata Motors’ ‘Dark Edition,’ Maruti Suzuki’s ‘Black Edition,’ and Volkswagen’s ‘Deep Black Pearl,’ among others.
The Gloster Blackstorm edition offers two paint options: Metal Black and Metal Ash. It incorporates black elements for the roof rails, tail-lamp and headlamp housing, window trim, fog lamp housing, and alloy wheels, all contributing to the overall blacked-out aesthetic. Furthermore, the exterior showcases red accents on the headlamps, brake calipers, front and rear bumpers, and wing mirrors.
Interior Features and Highlights of the MG Gloster Blackstorm Edition
The interior of the Gloster Blackstorm edition continues the black and red theme, featuring all-black upholstery and red accents on the steering wheel and dashboard. This special edition retains all the luxurious features found in the regular Gloster model. These include a 12-way adjustable driver’s seat, 8-way adjustable passenger’s seat, a dual panoramic sunroof, and a range of advanced safety features, including lane change assist and adaptive cruise control.
Seating Options and Configuration
MG has confirmed that the Gloster Blackstorm edition will be available in 6- and 7-seater options. However, it appears that the 6-seater variant is no longer offered in the standard Gloster lineup. The 6-seater layout features six captain seats, while the 7-seater variant offers a bench seat for the third row. Additionally, MG has announced the upcoming release of an 8-seater variant for the regular Gloster, expected to include bench seats in the middle and last rows.
Engine and Performance of the MG Gloster Blackstorm Edition
The MG Gloster Blackstorm edition retains the same powertrain options as the standard model without any performance enhancements. The 2WD version is equipped with a 163hp, 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, while the 4WD variant boasts a 218hp, 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine. Both engine options are paired with an 8-speed gearbox. However, the 4WD variant also features a drivetrain with a BorgWarner transfer case and a shift-on-fly system.
Pricing of the MG Gloster Blackstorm Edition
The MG Gloster Blackstorm edition is priced at Rs 40.3 lakh for the 6-seater and 7-seater 2WD variants, while the 6- or 7-seater 4WD variant comes at a higher price of Rs 43.08 lakh. These prices exceed those of the top-spec 7- or 8-seater Savvy variant, which retails for Rs 41.77 lakh.
